Welcome To The Ossett Academy Website
Message From the Principal

Thank-you for accessing Ossett Academy's website. Ossett Academy and 6th Form College is part of Education Ossett Community Trust. We hope you find that this website is very useful and informative. Our school prides itself on high standards, it prides itself on getting as many students as possible involved in a range of activities and moreover we are very keen to have an Academy which cares for the individual. In addition to looking at this website, please take every opportunity you can to come to look at open evenings, various open days and extra-curricular show cases that we have and you would of course be extremely welcome.
Mr M Shevill, Principal, Ossett Academy.
Our work with Charitable Organisations
Ossett Academy endeavours to be as supportive as possible of local, national and international charities. Our biggest fund raising is for Warm Heart Malawi along with a small scale project in Addis Abba (Ethiopia). Many members of our school community are aware of fund raising locally for Wakefield Hospice and nationally for Meningitis charities. Although we will do all we can to be supportive of charity work, please appreciate that supporting every request made to the Academy will not be possible.
The Ossett Community contributes generously to charities. We have raised through Ossett Academy £30k in the last 3 school years.
Ofsted Inspection
We have been informed today that, on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th May, an Ofsted inspection team will be present at Ossett Academy & 6th Form College.
For more information about Ofsted and the Inspection process, please visit www.ofsted.gov.uk.

Learning Revolution
The Learning Revolution at Ossett Academy is all about bringing learning in and out of the classroom up to the 21st century. We want to provide a learning environment where we see fearless learners and fearless teachers. We are very proud at Ossett of our ethos and tradition of high expectations and success, and the Learning Revolution is just one part of maintaining those high standards. The Learning Revolution is about students and teachers working together to ensure all learning experiences do three key things: CHALLENGE, ACTIVATE, and MOTIVATE.
- We all need to be challenged to move forward, and our learning time should always challenge each of us to try more, do more, be more - to go further. We learn from failure as well as success - so we need to be brave, and take risks with learning challenges.
- Learning time should be active; there's no room to hide and let old fashioned lessons wash over you! Every student needs to be involved to get the most out of every opportunity to learn, working together with others, gathering and using feedback, and improving their ability to learn and think independently.
- Finally, the learning revolution is about motivation. Learning time at Ossett Academy must foster curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning. We learn best when we enjoy something, or can appreciate where it will lead us; learning time should motivate us to be able to celebrate successes.
All staff and students at Ossett Academy are playing their part in the Learning Revolution, collaborating as partners in learning to truly allow for fearless learners and fearless teachers.
